KHARTOUM (Sputnik) - The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has pledged to provide Sudan with $150 million to help educational institutions that have suffered from the fighting between the Sudanese armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), acting Sudanese Education Minister Al-Huri told Sputnik on Monday.

About 40% of the educational institutions in Khartoum were destroyed in the course of the battles, Al-Huri said, adding that the Sudanese Education Ministry has developed a plan that will allow students from clash-affected areas to continue their studies in other regions when the school year begins in October.
"So far, no assistance has arrived specifically for the education sector in Sudan, as most aid is earmarked for other sectors, mainly health," the minister noted.
The League of Arab States (LAS) has also promised to provide assistance to Sudanese educational institutions, he added.
