On 1 September 2004, terrorists attacked School No 1 in Beslan (in the south-west of North Ossetia) while pupils were gathered for a solemn assembly. More than 1,000 people were present at the ceremony, all of whom were forced inside the school by the militants and held for almost three days. The date is linked to the tragic events of 19 years ago, when a terrorist attack on a school in the Russian Republic of North Ossetia-Alania left 334 people dead, among them 186 children.
On 1 September 2004, terrorists attacked School No 1 in Beslan (in the south-west of North Ossetia) while pupils were gathered for a solemn assembly.
