The BRICS International Innovation Forum program is being held from Saturday to Tuesday in the Russian capital under the theme "Cloud City".According to the organizers, the forum is aimed at unveiling the technological foundations of creating a "cloud city" and the best practices of the BRICS countries and the entire world for the digitalization of megacities.The event has gathered over 300 representatives of the diplomatic corps, authorities, federal ministries and agencies from 30 countries and more than 1,000 startup founders to debate ways of digitalization.Sputnik Africa sat down with one of the forum's speakers, Patrick Conteh, CEO of Africa Fintech Network, who is also serving as economic advisor to the Liberian Ministry of Finance, to spotlight the process of digitalization in Africa. Elaborating on digital nomadism in Africa, the expert singled out Lagos, Nigeria; Johannesburg, South Africa; Kenya's capital Nairobi; Lusaka, Zambia and Accra, Ghana as the top African cities for tech nomads.Conteh noted that Africa is well positioned to embrace advanced digital technologies in investment, business and government.Conteh emphasized that the advancement of digital development in Africa has good prospects owing to the fact that a weighty proportion of the continent is young, and young people are "largely digitally skilled."The CEO of the сompany, which does not limit its activities to one African country, also advocated for the consolidation of the continent in the field of information and communication technologies.Conteh stressed that most cities in Africa are "ready and thriving" for digitalization.When asked by Sputnik Africa what role the BRICS group can play in promoting digitalization in Africa, the expert noted that it is a "phenomenal organization from which Africa stands to benefit."

'Everything is Up for Grabs': Fintech CEO on African Digitalization Opportunities
On August 27-29, Moscow hosts the BRICS International Innovation Forum, a platform where leaders from tech companies, governments and startups gather to discuss the trajectory of digital development of cities.
The BRICS International Innovation Forum program is being held from Saturday to Tuesday in the Russian capital under the theme "Cloud City".
According to the organizers, the forum is aimed at unveiling the technological foundations of creating a "cloud city" and the best practices of the BRICS countries and the entire world for the digitalization of megacities.
The event has gathered over 300 representatives of the diplomatic corps, authorities, federal ministries and agencies from 30 countries and more than 1,000 startup founders to debate
ways of digitalization.
Sputnik Africa sat down with one of the forum's speakers, Patrick Conteh, CEO of Africa Fintech Network, who is also serving as economic advisor to the Liberian Ministry of Finance, to spotlight the process of digitalization in Africa.
The CEO spoke at the event on the panel titled "Nomad Choice. What to learn from international working experience?", looking at the phenomenon of digital nomadism.
Elaborating on digital nomadism in Africa, the expert singled out Lagos, Nigeria; Johannesburg, South Africa; Kenya's capital Nairobi; Lusaka, Zambia and Accra, Ghana as the top African cities for tech nomads.
Conteh noted that Africa is well positioned to embrace advanced digital technologies in investment, business and government.
"The opportunities are good, good for investment, great for technology in business, investment in it. For governments services, public services, private services," the advisor said. "I think, everything is up for grabs."
Conteh emphasized that the advancement of digital development in Africa has good prospects owing to the fact that a weighty proportion of the continent is young, and young people are "largely digitally skilled."
The CEO of the сompany, which does not limit its activities to one African country, also advocated for the
consolidation of the continent in the field of information and communication technologies.
"The physical boundaries are going down because of technology. So there is a need for collaboration and for integration both at the continental level and across the countries, Conteh remarked. "We think the way to go forward is for Africa to walk as one voice when it comes to digitalization and transformation using ICT."
Conteh stressed that most cities in Africa are "ready and thriving" for digitalization.
