During the 15th edition of the BRICS summit, Argentina was one of the countries officially invited to join the bloc from January 1, 2024. In terms of GDP, the South American country's service sector stands for 53%, industry represents 15%, agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting account for 6.4%.

Argentina will see great export opportunities after joining the BRICS group, Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero told Sputnik.

"The accession of Argentina to BRICS presents great opportunities to participate in the mechanism, in the organization, since it contains countries that are very important for the Argentina's trade," the minister said.

Cafiero added that three current members of BRICS are Argentina's trading partners, “therefore, the opportunity to expand exports with them seems to be an interesting challenge for us”

On Thursday, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Ethiopia and Egypt were invited to join BRICS during the group's summit in South Africa.
