French media reported, citing a statement read out by the deputy secretary general of Niger's foreign ministry, that the delegations welcomed the signing of orders allowing Malian and Burkinabe forces "to intervene on Niger territory in the event of aggression."In late July, military officers from the Nigerien Presidential Guard mutinied and announced the ousting of President Mohamed Bazoum. Afterward, The National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland, headed by Guard Commander Abdourahamane Tchiani, was formed to govern the West African nation.
