BRICS Platform Reflects Nations' Move Towards Justice: Russia's FM Press Secretary

Maria Zakharova, director of the Information and Press Department of the Russia's Foreign Ministry, made the statements on the sidelines of the 15th BRICS Summit held in South Africa's Johannesburg. She made the remarks concerning the summit, as well as the bloc's expansion.
BRICS is the platform that creates opportunities for the nations to reach justice, move towards a more just world order,
Maria Zakharova, director of the Information and Press Department of the Russia's Foreign Ministry told
Sputnik Africa."It seems to me that the key word of this summit, these few days, is the word justice, a more just world order. […] It is the BRICS that makes it possible to put into practice what is an urgent need of the whole world. It is the desire, struggle and achievement of a more just world order, resistance to neocolonial attitudes in realizing this potential that countries have and the disposal of their own resources and opportunities to build their future," Zakharova said.
She stressed that the interaction within the BRICS bloc reflects equity and mutual respect.
"These are relations built in this format, relations of equality, relations of respect for each other, non-interference in internal affairs, non-oppression of each other and vice versa, cooperation for the common good," she emphasized.
Moreover, she stressed that the bloc's expansion is far not just the formal question, it is quite a deep process.
"Therefore, this extension is not for show, not for the formal side of the matter, or not just because 'why not participate in the next forum with more countries?' And it is not quantitative and not only qualitative in terms of the fact that any expansion gives more opportunities. This is a reflection of much more complex deep processes," the official stressed.
On Thursday, South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa
announced that Egypt and Ethiopia are the African countries that have been invited to BRICS, the entry will take place on January 1, 2024. Beyond Africa, the new BRICS members will be Argentina, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Furthermore, Zakharova pointed out to the fact that the entry of the two new African members to the BRICS format indicates Africa's voice raise in terms of international relations, in comparison to the times when some nations used to exploit the continent.
"As a movement towards greater justice. Because Africa, which has fed all those who are called leading countries with its resources for many centuries, is finally beginning not just to raise its voice, to find a worthy place. […] Africa in the global media space is always associated with some problems, and no one is going to even mention that these problems were not created by Africa, but by those who came there uninvited, enslaved it for several centuries, mocked in every way, and then left behind colossal unresolved, artificially created issues," Zakharova said.
