Speaking at the XI Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS) earlier this week, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu emphasized that Russia will expand interaction with African countries in the field of military and military-technical cooperation.
Burundi expects a huge delivery of military equipment from Russia in the near future, Defense Minister Alain Tribert Mutabazi told Sputnik Africa.
"Notable progress can be noted in the field of training and capacity building. In the near future, we are planning an exchange of specialists and a large supply of equipment," the minister said on the sidelines of the Army-2023 forum, adding that the African country has handed over to Moscow a list of weaponry it would like to purchase.
The minister also said that the military cooperation between Burundi and Russia is on a good level, mentioning that it is carried out within the framework of bilateral agreements, including the one signed in July 2022.
