Earlier, the CAR Defense Minister said that Russia and the Central African Republic continue negotiations on the construction of a military base in the African country, the date of the opening of the base has not yet been determined.
Defense Minister of the Central African Republic (CAR) Claude Rameaux Bireau will visit Russia next week, CAR ambassador to Russia Leon Dodonu-Punagaza told Sputnik, adding that the minister will visit the Army 2023 forum with a delegation.
"The CAR delegation will be headed by the defense minister, there will also be senior officers," the diplomat said, when asked who will represent the CAR at the military forum.
In late July, during the Second Russia-Africa Summit, CAR President Faustin-Archange Touadera, who attended the event, said that Russia's assistance has allowed the Central African Republic (CAR) to gain peace and stability in recent years.
Touadera also noted that the CAR counts on Russia's assistance in combating the ongoing terrorist threat.

In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin assured that Moscow will support the leadership of the Central African Republic in its work to strengthen the country's defense capability and sovereignty.

According to the Russian ambassador to the country, defense industry cooperation between Russia and the Central African Republic is developing rapidly, and Moscow recently delivered an L-39 fighter jet to Bangui.
