MOSCOW (Sputnik) - More than one million refugees from Ukraine and Donbass have been helped by the Russian Red Cross since the start of Russia's special military operation, which is about 25% of the total number of refugees from the conflict in Russia, the humanitarian organization said on Wednesday.
"In the year and a half since the start of the Ukrainian crisis, we have reached over a million of refugees and displaced people with our help and support. Per various estimates, from 2.8 [million] to 5.3 million people have arrived in Russia," Russian Red Cross President Pavel Savchuk was quoted by the organization as saying.
Savchuk added, "This means we have helped about 25% of the total number of refugees and displaced people from Ukraine and Donbass who have ended up in our country."
More than 640,000 people have received humanitarian aid, including food, clothing and personal hygiene products, while 91,500 refugees have received vouchers for pharmacies, grocery and clothing stores.
