Russian, African MPs to Discuss Countering External Interference at Russia–Africa Summit
The second Russia–Africa Summit and Economic Forum will be held on July 27-28 in St. Petersburg. Sputnik is serving as an information partner of the event.
The Russian State Duma Commission on External Interference Investigation will exchange experience with its colleagues from
Africain protecting sovereignty and countering external interference, said Vasily Piskarev, the commission's head.
"At the forum in St. Petersburg on Friday, the commission will exchange experience with colleagues from Africa in protecting sovereignty and countering external interference in the internal affairs of the country. Let's talk, in particular, about interference in elections," the commission's Telegram channel quotes Piskarev as saying.
He noted that the techniques used by the
United States and its allies are very similar.
According to him, many countries in Africa are just making their way to democracy, so "Western dictatorship and shameless interference in internal affairs are felt even stronger."
"Let's talk about our legislative developments and continue the dialogue that we started in March at the Russia–Africa International Parliamentary Conference in Moscow," he added.
The first Russia–Africa Summit was held in Sochi in 2019, and an economic forum was held in parallel.
The forum was attended by heads of African nations, representatives of Russian, African, and international business and government agencies, as well as representatives of integration associations of the African continent.
