Earlier this week, Special Russian Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov met with the ambassadors of African countries and discussed the latest preparations for the upcoming Russia-Africa Summit.
On Thursday, Bogdanov had a phone conversation with Foreign Minister of the Central African Republic (CAR) Sylvie Baipo-Temon, with whom the diplomat discussed preparations for the Second Russia-Africa Summit, as well as issues of bilateral cooperation, according to a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"Various aspects of preparations for the forthcoming Second Russia-Africa Summit in St Petersburg were touched upon [during the phone call]," read the statement.
During the conversation, the diplomats discussed topical issues of further development of multi-faceted cooperation between Russia and the Central African Republic, with an emphasis on deepening the political dialogue and coordinating the approaches of Moscow and Bangui in the UN and other international structures.

"The Russian side expressed its readiness to continue to support the Central African leadership in its efforts to stabilize the situation in the country, both on a bilateral basis and as a permanent member of the UN Security Council," the ministry added.

Russian Diplomat Focuses on Latest Preparations for Upcoming Summit With African Envoys
In June, the Kremlin's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov reiterated that Russia will continue military cooperation with the Central African Republic and keep military advisers in the country. The African nation's officials repeatedly noted that security issues have become less critical after the deployment of the Russian military instructors, adding that Bangui is counting on Russia's further military assistance.
The Second Russia-Africa Summit and Economic Forum is scheduled for July 27-28 in St Petersburg. The first event of this kind was held on October 22-24, 2019, in the Russian resort city Sochi under the motto "For Peace, Security and Development".
