Cluster munitions provided by the United States and other countries are currently in Ukraine, Joint Staff Director for Operations Lt. Gen. Douglas A. Sims said on Thursday. There were cluster munitions in Ukraine provided by third-party countries prior to the US’ delivery of the weapons, Sims added.Earlier, Anatoly Antonov, the Russian ambassador to the US, stated that Washington's decision to deliver cluster munitions to Ukraine was a sign of desperation and that it disregarded the concerns of its allies as the US "ignored the negative voice of its [NATO] allies regarding the dangerous use of indiscriminate cluster munitions".Among NATO-members, Canada and Britain have expressed their concerns over the Washington's move and spoke against such a decision, since both countries are parties to the convention on the prohibition of the use of cluster munitions.

Pentagon Says US, Other Foreign Cluster Munitions Presently in Ukraine
On July 7, the US unveiled a new military assistance package for Ukraine that includes cluster bombs. Moscow has already slammed the Washington's decision with Russian Foreign Ministry stressing that such arms will put civilians at risk and the US will share responsibility for the deaths caused by the explosions.
Cluster munitions
provided by the United States and other countries are currently in Ukraine, Joint Staff Director for Operations Lt. Gen. Douglas A. Sims said on Thursday.
"There are cluster munitions in Ukraine at this time," Sims said during a press briefing.
There were cluster munitions in Ukraine provided by third-party countries prior to the US’ delivery of the weapons, Sims added.
Earlier, Anatoly Antonov, the Russian ambassador to the US, stated that Washington's decision to deliver cluster munitions to Ukraine was a sign of
desperation and that it disregarded the concerns of its allies as the US "ignored the negative voice of its [NATO] allies regarding the dangerous use of indiscriminate cluster munitions".
Among NATO-members, Canada and Britain have expressed their concerns over the Washington's move and spoke against such a decision, since both countries are parties to the convention on the prohibition of the use of cluster munitions.
