Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune is going to pay a five-day state visit to China next week at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, China’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying has stated.In November 2022, the two countries signed a five-year plan, the objective of which is to enhance communication and collaboration between Algeria and China across various sectors, encompassing the economy, trade, energy, agriculture, science and technology, space exploration, healthcare, and cultural exchange, according to former Algerian Foreign Minister, Ramtane Lamamra.Additionally, the plan seeks to foster twinning between the development strategies of both countries, aligning their goals and objectives for mutual benefit.The economy, agriculture, culture, energy, space and technology are the primary subjects of the agreement.Through the development of their relationship into a comprehensive strategic partnership, China and Algeria now conduct about $7 billion in commerce annually.China and Algeria inked their first agreement for strategic cooperation in 2014. In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by both nations in Beijing in September 2018 when Algeria joined the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative – a plan through which China hopes to connect Asia with Europe, Africa, and other continents with infrastructure networks.
