In today's episode on AfroVerdict, your host, Viktor Anokhin, is joined by Tatiana Shishkova, a professional vocalist based in Kampala, Uganda. She came there with the objective to create an album where she combines Russian folk songs with Ugandan instrumental beats.
Tatiana Shishkova (aka Tania She) has been to Uganda twice before, in contrast to her husband who is visiting the country for the 10th time. They enjoy the locals' good company, their openness and friendliness.

"I'm in good relations with the people who help me here in everyday life," Tatiana says.

Tatiana points to the contrast between Russia and Uganda in the pace of life.
"I'm already used to the brightness in everything. Buildings are bright, they are painted emotions. People's clothes, their emotionality. When I leave, I will miss it," she explains.
However, there are emotional traits where the people of Russia and Uganda can relate.

"I think the similarities are in self-sacrifice. This emotion inside every Russian and every African, every Ugandan, still it exists. It's seen. It can be felt when you communicate," Tatiana elaborates.

The vocalist offered a peek into her future album. You can hear samples of three distinct songs featuring traditional Russian vocals and Ugandan instrumentals.
