Kenya's Chief Justice Martha Koome officially opened the nation's first computerized sex offender register on Monday, highlighting its ability to successfully tackle sex crimes.
At the Kibera Law Courts in Kenya's capital, Nairobi, Convicted Sexual Offenders Electronic Registe was officially unveiled. Koome stressed the register's significance as a thorough database including essential data on all convicted sex offenders.
"The register will enable the actors in the justice chain to monitor and supervise sexual offenders after their release from prison," the official noted. "It will also enable the public to access information on sexual offenders in their neighborhoods and take precautionary measures to protect themselves and their children."
