Kenya's National Assembly has taken action against British soldiers based in the country in response to complaints from residents, reports have indicated.Among the complaints the Defense, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee is due to investigate are the 2012 murder of Agnes Wanjiru in Nanyuki and a case from 2021 when fire destroyed the Lolldaiga Hills Ranch, both of which were linked to British soldiers,Deputy speaker of Kenya's Laikipia County Assembly, Anthony Theuri Wambui, told Russian media that he approves of the government's move. A representative of Wanjiru's family, Kairu Kamunge, argued that institutional racism prevented justice from being served.Following a night of partying with troops, Wanjiru, 21, was reportedly stabbed and put in a septic tank at a hotel in Nanyuki in March 2012. Allegedly, her murder was committed by the UK military.

"When Agnes Wanjiru was killed by the British army, even after the media visited this area and the case was filed, family members are still seeking justice," Wambui stated.

"The UK government does not treat Kenyans as equals in any way. Actually, it has been mistreating us," he argued, noting that "if it was a British person who got killed, a lot more would have been done."
