Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan to brief him on the situation in the country due to the attempted armed mutiny carried out by the head of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani has said that the events in Russia are an internal matter for the country, stressing that Tehran supports the rule of law on the entire territory of Russia.

"Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani described the incident in Russia as an internal matter of that country and added that Iran supports the rule of law in the Russian Federation," reads a statement on the republic's Foreign Ministry Telegram channel.

On Friday night, the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don (southwest) was seized by forces of the Wagner PMC. Groups of armed men are moving around the city, and roadblocks have been set up at the entrances and exits.
This happened amid the statements made by Prigozhin about the alleged rocket-bombing of the PMC Wagner camps by Russian Armed Forces, which were denied by both the Russian Defense Ministry and the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB).

A criminal case was opened against Prigozhin for organizing an armed mutiny.
