That said, Moscow already delivered 20,000 tonnes of fertilizer to Malawi free of charge in March. In May, Kenya received 34 tonnes, and the next in line is Nigeria. Fertilizers are essential components to ensure a good harvest.

Russia's move to furnish assistance to African nations through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) was initiated by a Russian Government directive earlier in June.

Russia is set to contribute $10 million to the United Nations World Food Programme in a bid to provide humanitarian aid to several African nations.

Each country will get funds to the tune of $2.5 million, and the recipients are:

Burkina Faso

The Central African Republic

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia

The Republic of Sudan
