In continuation of the last episode, your AfroVerdict host, Viktor Anokhin, proceeds to discuss ways of engaging in business between Nigeria and Russia with a politician, two businessmen and Chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora in Russia.
The private sector should play the leading role in business, under the guidelines of the state, Patrick Adekunle, CEO and President of Fitzpatrick Energy & Logistics, believes.
He explains that Nigeria has two main problems, namely logistics and the development of the agricultural sector.
“Give Nigeria all the necessary backup. Nigerians are very enterprising and we want to contribute our own quarter to the global community in partnership with our partners, in partnership with Russia,” he says.
Nigerian students are the bridge of cooperation between Russia and Nigeria, since they live in Russia for 4-5 years while studying, which gives them an understanding of the language, the culture and the people, according to Sampson Uwem-Edimo, Chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora in Moscow.
“They are looking for how Russia and Nigeria can have good cooperation and how they as individuals can benefit from [it],” Mr Uwem-Edimo says.
A certain stick in the wheel of Russia-Nigeria cooperation is the sanctions imposed on Russia, Prince Ologbese Adeboboye, Honorary Commissioner for Regional Integation in the Ondo State of Nigeria, claims.

“The sanctions are uncalled for … the West is putting put a policy that actually favours them, not considering other people”, Prince Ologbese says.

Information about Russia and Africa is lacking on both sides, according to Chairman of the Russian-Egyptian Business Council Mikhail Orlov.
“The important thing is that we have this matchmaking process starting from information but then implementation also,” says Mr Orlov.
