Earlier in the day, the head of Russia's Chechnya region, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that the units received a new order to redeploy forces to the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), highlighting that they are expected to begin an offensive and liberate a number of settlements from the "satanists".
Assault teams of the 5th motorized rifle brigade and fighters of the Akhmat special forces are successfully advancing in Maryinka's direction, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"In Maryinka's tactical direction, assault teams of the 5th motorized rifle brigade and the Akhmat special forces detachment are conducting successful offensive operations," the ministry said in a statement.
According to Kadyrov, the Chechen units received an order to redeploy forces and that they were responsible for the territory of the DPR. He noted that the Akhmat special forces and the Sever-Akhmat regiment were deployed in Maryinka's direction.

"For several days now, the first stage has been going on - the command headquarters of the units is developing plans for the advance and liberation of settlements, receiving new intelligence," Kadyrov said.

He noted that Russia's State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov met with commanders whose area of responsibility is the "so-called Maryinka's direction". Kadyrov stated that Apty Alaudinov, commander of the Akhmat special forces, will command the deployed troops.
