Neocolonial practices should be a thing of the past and give way to a multipolar world, said Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian Security Council deputy chairman and chairman of the United Russia party.The former Russian president stressed that "acting in the name of security and well-being of our peoples, we must strive to make our world more just," but so far the world "unfortunately cannot be called just."Medvedev added that the inaugural event of the Forum of Campaigners Against Modern Practices of Neocolonialism will be held in Moscow on October 18-20.He noted the significance of the informal forum gaining an institutional embodiment, as well as the importance of ensuring a broad representation of political parties and social forces that oppose the total domination of the "former monopolies."The idea of transforming the forum into a permanent international platform whose participants can develop a joint strategy for opposing neocolonialism was proposed by Medvedev in March.

16:21 31.05.2023 (Updated: 10:49 03.08.2023) The Russian politician delivered his speech at the second session of the international organizing committee of the Forum of Campaigners Against Modern Practices of Neocolonialism, an informal association of political parties and social movements.
Neocolonial practices should be a thing of the past and give way to a multipolar world, said Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian Security Council deputy chairman and chairman of the United Russia party.
"The issue of combating neocolonialism is not only relevant, it remains one of the most acute and, perhaps, quite modern problems of current political life," ex-Russian President Medvedev noted. "Clearly, the persistence of detrimental neocolonial practices must forever be a thing of the past and finally give way to a multipolar world order."
The former Russian president stressed that "acting in the name of security and well-being of our peoples, we must strive to make our world more just," but so far the world "unfortunately cannot be called just."
Medvedev added that the inaugural event of the Forum of Campaigners Against Modern Practices of Neocolonialism will be held in Moscow on October 18-20.
He noted the significance of the informal forum gaining an institutional embodiment, as well as the importance of ensuring a broad representation of political parties and social forces that
oppose the total domination of the "former monopolies."
"These destructive actions in general undermine the sovereignty of developing countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and prevent the development of our country. I am convinced that the joint work of the forum participants will make a substantial contribution to the formation of a just peace, which is exactly what we need," Medvedev concluded.
The idea of transforming the forum into a permanent international platform whose participants can develop a joint strategy for opposing neocolonialism
was proposed by Medvedev in March.
