08:08 27.05.2023 (Updated: 08:35 27.05.2023) Fighting has been going on in Sudan since April 15 between Rapid Support Forces (RSF) under the command of Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo and the Sudan Armed Forces. The opposing sides are exchanging contradictory statements about combat operations and changes in control over objects, having launched an information war in the media and social networks.
The Ministry of Defense of Sudan has announced that it is calling up reservists, according to a statement released by the Sudanese armed forces.
Earlier, the ministry called on retired military personnel to obtain weapons for self-defense.
"In order to support the great military efforts that the armed forces are making to restore security and stability, it was decided to call all retired officers, sergeants and soldiers of the armed forces," the statement said.
It is noted that persons whose age does not exceed 65 years are subject to conscription.
Subsequently, the Rapid Support Forces said that the calling up of reservists speaks of desperation in the armed forces and their inability to resist on the battlefield.
"This step clearly reflects the desperation and floundering of the putschists [armed forces] and their inability to resist our forces on the battlefield," the RSF said in a statement on social media.
