Uganda's Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is looking to fill four Supreme Court and Appellate Court judicial positions, the commission said in its ad.In its proclamation, the JSC - the state agency charged with hiring judicial officers and disciplining those who go astray - lists the requirements for the positions.The judicial position of the Supreme Court requires interested applicants to have a Bachelor of Laws from a recognized university plus a post-graduate diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre (LDC), with any advanced post-graduate qualification being an added advantage.For the position of Court of Appeal Justice, the interested applicants should be in possession of Bachelor’s degree, should have been a judge of the High Court or an advocate for not less than 10 years.At present Uganda's Supreme Court has has 10 judges, including the Chief Justice, which means that after the next judge is hired, it will have 11, which is the required staffing level at this time.The Court of Appeal is looking to appoint three justices to bring the number of justices up to 15. Recently three judges were transferred to the Supreme Court which is why there is now a shortfall.

The Supreme Court of Uganda stands at the top of the judicial pyramid as a final court of Appeal in Uganda, deciding cases on appeal from lower courts, including the second-highest judicial assembly in Uganda, the Court of Appeal.
Uganda's Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is looking to fill four Supreme Court and Appellate Court judicial positions, the commission
said in its ad.In its proclamation, the JSC - the state agency charged with hiring judicial officers and disciplining those who go astray - lists the requirements for the positions.
"Applications are invited from suitable and eligible citizens of Uganda to fill the following vacant posts available in the Judiciary service as specified below," the job ad, signed off by the JSC's secretary, Rose Nassali Lukwago, reads.
The judicial position of the Supreme
Court requires interested applicants to have a Bachelor of Laws from a recognized university plus a post-graduate diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre (LDC), with any advanced post-graduate qualification being an added advantage.
