Kenyan President William Ruto, when asked by reporters in a joint media interview at the State House in Nairobi about the reasons for his thinner physique, he said that his noticeable slimming down was thanks to his conscious endeavor to stay in shape. In his reply, Ruto explained that the pressures of campaigning for the 2022 general election forced him to maintain an irregular eating schedule, sometimes overeating or eating at odd hours. Ruto said since he took over the reins of power, he dropped some of those excess pounds after restarting his fitness schedule, in addition to embarking on a dieting and wellness program. Ruto won Kenya's general election last August with 50.49% of the vote. Second place went to his main rival from the coalition Azimio la Umoja (United Kenya), Raila Odinga, with 48.8%, who refused to recognize the election results and since March has led demonstrations against what he claimed was a "fraudulent" election. The Kenyan leader has denounced the opposition's protests, which has descended into riots and caused property damage, forcing a number of businesses to close. The president vowed that he will not allow "impunity to be part of" the country’s discourse.

Kenya's President Unveils Reason for Looking Slimmer Than During Campaign Trail
Ruto has recently appeared in public looking fitter than when he was on the campaign trail, which made many Kenyans scratch their heads as to what the president had done to get in better shape.
Kenyan President William Ruto, when asked by reporters in a joint media interview at the State House in Nairobi about the reasons for his thinner physique, he said that his noticeable slimming down was thanks to his conscious endeavor to stay in shape.
In his reply,
Ruto explained that the pressures of campaigning for the 2022 general election forced him to maintain an irregular eating schedule, sometimes overeating or eating at odd hours.
"We went into elections and you know when you have elections there is a lot of pressure, sometimes you take out the pressure on food," Kenya's leader said. "You have to do this and that and you don’t have time to go and exercise and sometimes you eat. Because you don’t know when you will get the next meal, sometimes you overeat."
Ruto said since he took over the reins of power, he dropped some of those excess pounds after restarting his fitness schedule, in addition to embarking on a dieting and wellness program.
"With the nature of my job, I have to be alert," president remarked.
Ruto won Kenya's general election last August with 50.49% of the vote. Second place went to his main rival from the coalition Azimio la Umoja (United Kenya), Raila Odinga, with 48.8%, who
refused to recognize the election results and since March has led demonstrations against what he claimed was a "fraudulent" election.
The Kenyan leader has denounced the opposition's protests, which has descended into riots and caused property damage, forcing a number of businesses to close. The president vowed that he will not allow "impunity to be part of" the country’s discourse.
