BEIJING (Sputnik) - The Russian-Chinese relations have overcome outdated models such as a zero-sum game and a confrontation between blocs and have been able to withstand different challenges, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang said on Monday.
"[The relations between Russia and China] have overcome such outdated models as the zero-sum game and the confrontation between blocs," Qin told Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat.
The Chinese foreign minister also said that the bilateral relations had been able to withstand different challenges because the countries found way to strategic mutual trust, adding that they did not pose a threat to other nations and reflected "right direction of historical development."
Qin Gang stressed that those countries that seek to blame Russia and China for making alliances are "'looking through their own lens.'"
"This typical Cold War mindset points to the obsolescence and paucity of their worldview. They see only the confrontation of different unipolar world alliances, but do not see the mutually beneficial cooperation of a multipolar world," the diplomat said.
Russia and China will continue to work on a comprehensive strategic partnership as well as promote the model of a multipolar world, Qin said.
"Russia and China will further promote a comprehensive strategic partnership relationship in a new era, support an international system with the United Nations at its core, and an international order based on international law," Qin remarked.
He also noted that Russia and China will "promote multi-polarity of the world and democratization of international relations, making a due contribution to the development and progress of mankind.
Earlier, Wang Wenbin, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, commenting on possible EU sanctions against Chinese companies allegedly supporting Russia, said that trade relations between Russia and China are open and honest and are not directed against third countries.
