Russia is ready to expand sports ties with Senegal and increase mutual participation of athletes in sports events, said Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin during his stay in the West African country.

Russia is ready to expand sports ties with Senegal and increase mutual participation of athletes in sports events, said Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin during his stay in the West African country.The Russian sports minister has also invited the delegation of Senegal to the University International Sports Festival, which is set to take place in Russian city of Yekaterinburg this August, and the "Games of the Future" international tournament, which will be held in Russia's Kazan in 2024. While meeting with the Senegal's president, Macky Sall, Matytsin noted that it was important to continue maintaining "such high dynamics and strengthen cooperation with Senegal in the humanitarian sphere, primarily in the field of training national personnel." In addition, as part of the working trip, the Russian Sports Minister will take part in a meeting of the presidium of the 8th session of the Conference of the Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport on April 28. Oleg Matytsin has already met with the President of Senegal Macky Sall on February 3, 2021 during a visit to the Senegalese capital Dakar through the presidium of the seventh session of the Conference of the Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport. At the time, the Russian Sports Minister expressed readiness to provide the necessary support to colleagues in the preparation of the Summer Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in Senegal in 2026. The Youth Games will be held on the African continent for the first time.

17:29 28.04.2023 (Updated: 08:51 29.04.2023) Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin is on the working trip to Africa from April 25 to 29, within the framework of which he already visited Benin and Togo, with Senegal being the last leg of the Russian minister tour.
Russia is ready to expand sports ties with Senegal and increase mutual participation of athletes in sports events, said Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin during his stay in the West African country.
"Senegal is an important partner of Russia in Africa. We have strong bonds of friendship, mutual trust and respect. We are ready to expand sports ties with Senegal and increase the mutual participation of athletes of our countries in sports events," Matytsin said.
The Russian sports minister has also invited the delegation of Senegal to the University International Sports Festival, which is set to take place in Russian city of Yekaterinburg this August, and the "Games of the Future" international tournament, which will be held in Russia's Kazan in 2024.

"We welcome the desire of Senegalese students to study in Russia, to study its language and culture," the Minister stated.
