Currently, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) is hosting an unparalleled, first of its kind event — Model African Union. There are two key issues on the agenda: the fight against terrorism and food security.
Both terrorism and food security are global issues that apply to any country in the world, Fredrick Ibrahim Kibuta, Tanzanian Ambassador to Russia told Sputnik.
According to the ambassador, even though Tanzania is not currently facing the problem of terrorism as no terrorist group is operating in the country, nevertheless, it is undertaking steps in order to maintain the security.

"Terrorism is a global issue. It's a global issue, it's transnational organized crime. So that means no countries are safe or free from it. When I talk of Tanzania in particular, we do not have so much big terrorism in the country, there is no recognized group operating in Tanzania. But because we are part of the world, and because it is a global issue, we take it as an issue of concern, and we are taking measures to counter it in case it happens tomorrow, or otherwise to make sure that we do not face that problem," he outlined.

Food Security to Be Discussed at July Russia-Africa Forum
As for food insecurity, Kibuta stated that it "is also a global issue and wheat is needed everywhere".

"In my country currently is 80% of the citizens are farmers. So they produce food. So, currently, I cannot say that we have a food problem," Kibuta said.

Speaking about the forthcoming Second Russia-Africa Summit, the ambassador stated that he hopes that it will be "for the benefit of us all" and that he will definetely take part.
Russia will host the summit in July this year in Russian "cultural capital", Saint Petersburg.
The first such summit was held in Sochi in October 2019 and the summing up outlined a set of goals and objectives for developing cooperation between Russia and Africa further in the fields of politics, security, economics, science, technology, culture and the humanitarian field.
This year, one of the key topics to be discussed within the Russia-Africa Summit, scheduled for July 26-29, will be food security.
