Armed Clashes in Sudan
On 15 April 2023, armed clashes between the Rapid Support Forces and the regular army in the Sudanese capital Khartoum were reported. Later, the fighting between the military forces spread to other Sudanese regions.

Violent clashes between the Sudanese regular army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) broke out on April 15, with the epicenter located in Khartoum, and were initially focused on airports and government buildings. Government forces accused the RSF of mutiny and launched airstrikes against their bases.
Amid clashes in Sudan, which the WHO estimates have left 413 people dead and more than 3,500 injured, a number of countries launched operations to evacuate their citizens and diplomatic corps from Sudan on Sunday as the local parties to conflict committed to a three-day religious ceasefire.
Several countries have been evacuating their citizens and diplomats in cooperation with other African and Middle Eastern countries for ground and air transit. The US has evacuated its embassy staff from Khartoum, but not regular US citizens. Russia has evacuated its nationals from conflict zones in Sudan to its embassy in Khartoum.
