Nigerian politician Peter Obi has debunked the allegations that the British government had apologized to him for his detention at the airport, according to Diran Onifade, the council's spokesman.Furthermore, the statement added that the party has "every confidence in the ability of the British authorities to resolve the matter, to a conclusion.”Earlier, the party's spokesman said that Obi was questioned at a London airport by immigration officials for a duplication violation, which means that someone was impersonating him in London. That means, according to Onifade, that the "impersonator could be committing all kinds of weighty crimes and other dubious acts and it would be recorded in Obi’s name."

Nigeria's Peter Obi Disproves UK's Alleged Apology Over His Detention at Airport
13:01 14.04.2023 (Updated: 10:48 03.08.2023) Peter Obi, who was a candidate for President of Nigeria in the February elections and came in third place, went to London to celebrate Easter and was questioned at a London airport by immigration officials, the spokesman for the Labour Party’s campaign council stated.
Nigerian politician Peter Obi has debunked the allegations that the British government had apologized to him for his detention at the airport, according to Diran Onifade, the council's spokesman.
“We would like to state emphatically that we are not aware of any such apology and have not issued any statement whatsoever, in that regard," Onifade said in a statement.
Furthermore, the statement added that the party has "every confidence in the ability of the British authorities to resolve the matter, to a conclusion.”
Earlier, the party's spokesman said that Obi was questioned at a London airport by immigration officials for a duplication violation, which means that someone was impersonating him in London.
That means, according to Onifade, that the "impersonator could be committing all kinds of weighty crimes and other dubious acts and it would be recorded in Obi’s name."
"The scenario is unimaginable as Peter Obi could be implicated in a series of forbidden acts and even be framed in a manner that could be a huge embarrassment to him, his family, his party, the Obedient movement, and Nigeria, where he currently remains the conscience of the people," the party statement said.
