Russian company Rusal sent representatives to Sierra Leone to study possible bauxite mining sites under a concession, the country's ambassador to Russia Mohamed Yongawo told Sputnik.
"Rusal has made it clear that the company is interested in working together and collaborating with Sierra Leone. And I think Sierra Leone is open to working with Rusal," Yongawo said.
He added that there are always details, legal issues that need to be resolved.
"I believe that as soon as the issues of laws and concessions can be resolved, a common language can be found. [...] And as soon as this interest becomes obvious, and Rusal receives a license for the concessions that are needed, then, of course, this discussion will continue. As far as I know, negotiations are still ongoing," the ambassador emphasized.
