Education Quota for Ethiopian Students in Russia to Increase by 50%: Russian Humanitarian Agency

African countries need strong educational support through training in programs that meet the needs of modern industry, as the lack of an educated workforce with the skills needed for industrial development is holding the continent back, coordinator of Russian nuclear education programs in Africa Masamba Kah earlier said.

Russia is ready to increase the number of government-funded places in universities for Ethiopian students by 50%, Russian humanitarian agency Rossotrudnichestvo's head, Yevgeny Primakov, said at the meeting with Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Russia, Genet Teshome Jirru.
If interest continues to grow, the quota will increase proportionally, Primakov added.
One of the priority areas for cooperation between Ethiopia and Russia is the opportunity to receive education in Russia, Genet Teshome Jirru said, stressing the importance of professional exchange between Russian scientists and professors from different fields of science.
