Azerbaijan and Somalia signed a memorandum on bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector during a visit by Somali Petroleum Minister Dahir Shire Mohamed to Azerbaijan's Baku, the Energy Ministry told Sputnik.
"During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on training Somali students in higher educational establishments specializing in the oil sector in Azerbaijan. In conclusion, a 'Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Oil and Gas Sector between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Federal Republic of Somalia' was signed," the ministry said.
It said the document envisions the exchange of experience, participation in specialized events held in both countries, as well as the organization of joint seminars and forums in order to develop cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
"Our visits to Azerbaijan are of historical importance for our country because we are here for development. We are opening a new door for two brotherly countries," the Somali official noted during the meeting.
