South Africa wants to strike a "meaningful deal" with the US on a range of issues, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said.
“The signals that we’re getting are that we need to enable the development of that process to happen—it’s inevitable that we will get together and do a deal,” Ramaphosa told Western media.
The president believes that in today's interconnected world, countries have to "deal with each other," even if they disagree on certain policies.
South African Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola earlier said that the US had ignored attempts to engage in dialogue with South Africa after suspending aid to the country.
