The site of the Russian-built El Dabaa nuclear power plant (NPP) has enough space to accommodate four more power units in addition to the four currently under construction, Alexey Kononenko, head of the El Dabaa NPP Project, told Sputnik on the sidelines of the International Youth Forum for Sustainable Nuclear Technologies in Alexandria, Egypt.
There is hope that cooperation between Russia and Egypt in the field of nuclear power plants will continue in the future, he said.
Speaking about the forum, Kononenko said that such an event gives young people the opportunity to better understand nuclear energy technologies and appreciate the prospects of this field.
He added that young people from Egypt and Russia are being actively recruited to work on the El Dabaa NPP project and are being trained in new specialties.
Mohammed Dwiddar, Chairman of Egypt's Nuclear Power Plants Authority, told Sputnik that cooperation on the El Dabaa NPP project is yielding positive results and is a great honor for Egypt.
