A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck central Ethiopia on Friday, according to multiple earthquake monitoring agencies, sending shockwaves through one of the country's most populous regions.
The tremor occurred near Oromiya, Ethiopia's largest region, which is home to nearly half a million people, as reported by the United States Geological Survey.
The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre noted that the quake was relatively shallow, occurring at a depth of just 10 km, which often amplifies its impact on the surface.
There were no immediate reports of damages or casualties.
Social media users quickly took to platforms like X to express solidarity with those affected, highlighting global support for the communities in Ethiopia.
