The Russian House in Bangui delivered this week 77,980 doses (2,593 packages) of an innovative HIV treatment drug to the Central African Republic (CAR).
CAR President Faustin-Archange Touadera acknowledged the importance of this assistance, stating that the provision of medications is a significant step toward improving public health. The Russian Embassy in CAR emphasized that this initiative represents not only medical support, but also a commitment to strengthening healthcare cooperation between the two countries.
Minister of Health and Population Pierre Somse expressed appreciation for the timely delivery of the medication, particularly given the recent suspension of US government assistance in the healthcare sector. He noted that the disruption in funding had raised concerns about continuity of treatment for many patients. The minister also highlighted the importance of further cooperation between Russia and CAR in the medical field.
The delivery has been positively received within CAR, with many citizens acknowledging the contribution of the Russian House in Bangui. Officials from both countries have indicated that further cooperation in the medical sector remains a priority.
