As Angola takes on the presidency of the African Union, it remains committed to the goals of Agenda 2063 while placing a special focus on justice for Africans and people of African descent through reparations, Tete Antonio, Angola’s Foreign Minister, told Sputnik Africa.
“This continent was a victim of slavery, a victim of colonialism. It has, therefore, left negative traces in our heart. So, it is necessary for us to have this collective awareness, and may the world also have collective awareness about this factor,” he said on the sidelines of the 46th session of the Executive Council of the African Union, which is taking place as part of the upcoming 38th AU Summit.
However, Angola’s primary objective is the continent’s development, with a strong emphasis on financing infrastructure. The minister also called for international collaboration, highlighting that Africa’s progress is a vital contribution to global development.
