The sovereignty of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) today depends on collective awareness of the situation, Fortifi Lushima, national coordinator of the Pan-Africanist Emergencies movement in the DRC, told Sputnik Africa.
The NGO made a number of proposals for the "reconquest of sovereignty," including convening a general assembly on national defense, Lushima said, adding that this initiative aims to restructure the DRC army and make it more efficient.
"When you have riches like coltan, like cobalt in the world today, you must have a strong and powerful army to be able to protect your territories, protect your mines, riches," insisted Lushima.
The pan-Africanist also highlighted the need to intensify partnerships with countries that share the ideology of a multipolar world.
According to him, the reconquest of sovereignty also requires mobilizing people "in a collective awareness of sovereignty."
