Cote d'Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara, 83, strongly hinted at a fourth term in office, stating his desire to continue serving the country.
While emphasizing that his party, the Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace, hasn't formally nominated a candidate for the October 2025 election, President Ouattara's declaration— made during an address to the diplomatic corps—is the clearest indication yet of his intentions.
"I am in good health and eager to continue serving my country," the 83-year-old head of state told foreign diplomats.
Ouattara, who secured a highly contested third term in 2020, previously suggested his retirement hinged on the withdrawal of political rivals.
