The Zimbabwean handicraft sector and its community heritage are crucial for achieving sustainable economic growth, Permanent Secretary Mavis Sibanda of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Small and Medium Enterprises Development, said.
During a strategic planning workshop, she called for the development of the 2025 Annual Plan and a review of 2024’s progress. Sibanda noted that a collaborative effort would produce strategic plans to guide the National Handicraft Centre's 2025 activities, ensuring a clear approach to promoting handicrafts.
Similarly, Handcraft Centre board chairperson Sandra Ndebele emphasized the Handcraft Center's commitment to revitalizing the industry to support President Emmerson Mnangagwa's economic vision and the achievement of Vision 2030, a national development strategy that aims to transform the country into an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
