Forced from their home in northern Gaza, Ibrahim Matar's family has found temporary refuge in Khan Younis, but their makeshift camp sits beside overflowing waste.
The sewage system, crippled by the ongoing Israeli war, and the lack of garbage collection have created a breeding ground for disease.
"The situation here is very difficult, and there is no other place to live," Ibrahim told Sputnik, describing the relentless insects and harsh conditions of their five-month stay in the "tent city" next to mountains of garbage.
