Cyclone Chido hit Mozambique and killed at least three people after having ravaged Mayotte and the Comoros, South African broadcaster SABC reported.
It made landfall near Pemba, the capital of Cabo Delgado province, bringing heavy rain and strong winds of up to 200 km/h. However, it is losing power as it moves further inland.
Buildings were damaged, and some areas have been left without power, according to the authorities.
