Earlier, Finance Minister Ahmed Shide told local media that Ethiopia’s economy is expected to grow by 8.4% in the current 2017 fiscal year that began on July 7. He pointed out that the country's macroeconomic reforms have improved the situation in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, and tourism.

Ethiopia produced a record volume of wheat in 2023-2024, the office of the prime minister Abiy Ahmed said in a statement.

The figure reached 23 million tonnes in this period, the office noted. Particularly, smallholder farmers harvested 12,3 million tonnes, cultivating 3.6 million hectares.
