French Prime Minister Michel Barnier is expected to submit his resignation on Thursday morning local time, the BFMTV broadcaster reported, citing informed sources.
After the country's parliament supported the no-confidence vote against him, Barnier is expected to submit his resignation to French President Emmanuel Macron at 09:00 GMT on Thursday, the sources said.
The no-confidence vote forced Barnier to submit his resignation while his government was disbanded. This became the first French government to resign following the no-confidence vote since 1962 and the shortest-living government in the history of the Fifth Republic.
