Sindano made the remarks during the announcement of the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly results Tuesday evening.
He praised voters for their determination, saying their efforts have made history.
“Your commitment to stand in the heat and cast your votes shows the strength of our democracy,” he said.
He added that the elections are more than just a contest between winners and losers, but are also a reflection of Namibia’s values and hopes for the future.
Sindano commended all political parties for their participation, saying it strengthened the country’s democratic system. He also acknowledged the hard work of ECN staff who worked through the night to ensure that the results were accurate, despite criticism.
He urged Namibians to stay united and keep engaging in political discussions, even after the elections.
“Democracy is not just about voting; it’s about working together, respecting each other, and finding solutions to challenges,” he added.
The chair of the Namibian electoral body ended his closing remarks with a message of hope and unity, encouraging everyone to continue building a better Namibia.
