Moscow has the potential to help Burkina Faso solve its persistent electricity shortage by building solar power plants in the West African country.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak made the statement while meeting with Burkinabe officials during his recent working visit to the Sahel countries, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.
"We have great potential for joint projects that Russian companies can implement in Burkina Faso. There are opportunities here for the development and construction of solar power plants, the supply of modular power plants," Novak told officials in Burkina Faso.
To this end, a regulatory framework will be signed, including an agreement between Moscow and Ouagadougou on the protection and promotion of capital investments, the Russian official said.
Russia will also continue to provide Burkina Faso with agricultural products as humanitarian aid, Deputy Prime Minister Novak said.
