The Kilimanjaro Film Festival (KFF), scheduled for July 2-6, 2025, in the city of Moshi, aims to significantly boost Tanzania's creative and tourism sectors, KFF's founder and director Vicensia Shule told local media.

"Film [industry] is growing [in Tanzania] and needs systems to accelerate its progress. Kilimanjaro is renowned for tourism, so we decided to establish a film festival here to help films reach an international level," the founder said.

The festival is part of a broader initiative to connect Tanzania's film and tourism industries, she emphasized.
Unlike many festivals, KFF prioritizes authentic African stories, particularly those from indigenous communities, aiming to preserve their cultural heritage. The event is envisioned as a platform to promote Tanzanian films internationally, providing filmmakers with income opportunities, networking potential, and recognition, the director explained.
The opening of the KFF season reportedly took place on Friday in Dar es Salaam.
