Russian President Vladimir Putin and Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye discussed joint projects in the energy, transport and agriculture areas during a phone conversation, the Kremlin said on Friday.
The presidents held a phone conversation at the initiative of Senegal earlier in the day.
"The leaders spoke in favor of strengthening the traditionally friendly Russian-Senegalese relations in the trade, economic and investment spheres, including the implementation of promising joint projects in energy, transport and agriculture, in particular through more active participation of Russian business in working with Senegalese partners," the Kremlin said in a statement.
They also discussed the situation in the Sahel region and West Africa due to the ongoing instability there, the Kremlin said.
Additionally, Putin invited his Senegalese counterpart to visit Russia, the statement read, adding that the invitation was accepted.
