Ukraine Has Lost Over 30,000 Servicemen in Kursk Region, Russian Defense Ministry Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On August 6, the Armed Forces of Ukraine units launched an offensive to seize territory in the Kursk region; their advance was stopped, Russia's Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov said. He emphasized that the operation in the Kursk region would be completed by defeating the enemy and reaching the state border.

The Ukrainian armed forces have lost over 250 soldiers in the Kursk Region over the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday. According to the report of the ministry, in total, Ukraine has lost 30,050 servicepeople and 184 tanks during operations in the Kursk Region.

"Over the past day, the Ukrainian armed forces lost over 250 servicepeople, eight infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed, including two US-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, and six armored combat vehicles, as well as two artillery pieces, two mortars and eight cars," the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier, the Russian Security Service (FSB) said that an attempt to violate Russia's state border in the Bryansk region was prevented, four foreign mercenaries were eliminated, and part of the sabotage group was hit by artillery strikes. Later, the Russian National Guard confirmed that the Ukrainian sabotage group, which tried to break into Russia's Bryansk region, consisted of about 10 people.
