The Russian Ministry of Agriculture considers the development of agricultural exports to African countries promising, viewing it as a large market for domestic products and an opportunity to build bilateral relations, stated Olga Abramova, an advisor to the Russian Minister of Agriculture, at the Asiaexpo international congress.
"Russia holds leading positions worldwide in exporting a number of agricultural products and foodstuffs. [...] We cooperate with everyone, but we would like to strengthen cooperation with African countries. Firstly, it is a very large consumer market, and secondly, it provides opportunities for building relationships between countries. From the standpoint of agricultural product exports, we see prospects specifically in this direction," she said.
According to forum director Igor Milovanov, relations with India are also actively developing at present, with plans for China next year.
The first international congress Asiaexpo was held in the federal territory of Sirius in 2023, with nearly 6,000 participants. As a result of the event, 21 public agreements were signed, and more than 100 contracts were concluded, totaling approximately three billion rubles (almost $31 million).
